    Their god is a psychopath.

He would get the death penalty in real life if he existed.

    Good thing he doesn't.

He makes Hitler look like a Girl Scout.

LOL, what you said has nothing to do with the killing machine you worship. Stay on topic, shall we?

People were killed as judgment for their sin. people were also killed because they had allowed the fallen angels to modify them (the flood and even after the flood).

God can't fine-tune disasters to take only the guilty. There is always collateral damage. Would you have babies spared to die lingering deaths of hunger, thirst, exposure, and even predation? Some philanthropist you are.

And don't be a hypocrite. You would cut out a malignant tumor if you could. Why can't God?

I would say a couple of things. One of them is you're reading the Bible too literally. In the sacred text one of the themes in the Old Testament is "the ban". That's an english translation of the hebrew word "herem" which means to "destroy" or "annihilate". The literal translation is "devoted to destruction". The way the Church Fathers like Origen and Gregory of Nyssa read those passages was they took an allegorical rather than a literal approach to reading them. So when the Bible says to "destroy" "annihilate" or "wipe out" it's not a literal injunction to wipe out people, but it's to be read allegorical as an injunction to destroy and wipe out sin.Β

One example of what I'm talking about is Deuteronomy 7. In it it says that the Israelites will fight 7 nations and they are commanded to exterminate them. St John Cassian said the 7 nations represented the 7 deadly sin. These deadly sins are like nations that excercise sovereignty over the human heart, which is why their temptation is strong. So we have to conquer and annihilate them. Greed is a deadly sin. We have to conquer it it and exterminate it. Hatred is a deadly sin, in all it's forms(racism, sexism, prejudice, malice, etc). So we have to wipe it out completely. Or take the command to "wipe out Amalek". Origen of Alexandria says Amalek symbolized sin and wickedness. So we are to wipe out sin and wickedness in the world. Gnana Robinson, Anglican Old Testament scholar from the Church of India in his commentaries state that racism, sexism, greed, domination, exploitation are all manifestations of wickedness in the world. So we must wipe them out completely.Β

How does a Christian "put the ban" on sin? How do we fight and conquer it? Not through the weapons of the world. But through the weapons of faith and love(1 Thessalonians 5:8). So this are not meant to be read as literal but allegorical injunctions

    Their wickedness.

Dt 9:5 It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the Lord your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

It would have been cruel to leave a bunch of kids without parents to take care of them, so he had them killed too.Β  They are innocent and thus go straight to Paradise.

The creator wanted his earth to be filled with good righteous people but the people and parents of the children didn't want to be good and righteous so they choose to go against the Creator. The creator still wanted to have His earth filled with good people so He had no choice but to remove them. It was their choice.

(Deuteronomy 30:19) I take the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you today that I have put life and death before you, the blessing and the curse; and you must choose life so that you may live, you and your descendants,
