A physics class pushes a small wagon along a flat horizontal parking lot with a force of 132.86 N. Starting from rest the wagon travels 14.2 meters in 8.0 seconds. What is the wagon's acceleration?

    What is the wagon's acceleration?

    acceleration a = 2d/t^2 = 14.2*2/8^2 = 0.444 m/sec^2

    What is the magnitude of the force of friction acting on the wagon in the previous question, if the loaded wagon has a mass of 175.0 kg?

    accelerating force Fa = m*a = 0.444*175 = 77.66 N

    friction force Ff = F-Fa = 132.86-77.66 = 55.20 N
