what button do I press on my printer, to scan ?

    Depends.  Is it actually a scanner/printer combo?

    If not, there might be NO button.

    Easy. Just put the paper into the tray where the printed papers come out. Press the print button then the scanned document should appear on your computer with the paper coming out the input tray blank.

    usually the process starts when you lift the cover place a sheet on it and CLOSE THE LID which STARTS the program on the pc to perform a SCAN. so it suggests you havnt installed the software yet or you have disabled the SCAN software from your startup.

    you don't. start the scan from the software installed on your computer, then follow the prompts

    Well, you didn't tell us what printer you have, so my best guess would be a button labeled "Scan."
