Why shouldn’t you obtain animals as pets on a whim? ?
Any animal besides dogs and cats (except wild ones). And what can you do if you love animals but can’t take on the commitment?

It’s a pet’s lifetime commitment. You can’t just adopt a pet and then return it when you get bored with it. If you’re going to adopt a pet, you’re committed to it for its life. If people didn’t buy a pet on a whim, there wouldn’t be so many pets in shelters and there wouldn’t be pet mills.

What a stupid question. Then you don't get them. Grow the F up.

Of course, "on a whim" means you have not thought things through, and may regret the decision, later.
If you love animals and can't take on the commitment, you could foster for a rescue league; pet sit for others; walk dogs; volunteer at shelters.

People who can't take on a commitment toward an animal post foolish questions on Yahoo instead.

sounds like you already know the anser to the titel question. because its a commitment to responsibilty for the pet's life. if you cant take the commitment you find a good home for them.
