    A lot more.

Their trade demands it, they must be open to possibilities.

Religious people are closed.  Science and religion are mutually exclusive.

Lon, that is mutual exclusion. Do you ever explain that to the anti-science Christians? They're the ones who need that yelled at them, not atheists.

Probably. It doesn't bother me. Science has nothing to do with atheism.

Maybe. I don’t care. Truth has never been subject to a popular vote.

Science and religion answer two different types of questions. They are not incompatible because they never need to intersect.

Why can't you tell the difference between 'then' and 'than' ?

How are we supposed to know what religion every scientist is??...seriously!!

Second rule of statistics - check the numbers add up!  Which in your graph they don't. *First rule is always check the baselines!

This kind of info is also very easy to skew in order to make one viewpoint look different to reality.  So you can get very different results by using different subsets!

I read this a long time ago; the percentage of atheist scientists is around 40%, much higher than the percentage of the general population. I don't know if the article was referring to the US only or to the world. The article also said that this percentage had been holding rather steady for the previous, I forget how many years.

I guess its too hard to do some research.

Pew Research reports that among scientists:

    33% believe in God

18% don't believe in God but believe in some higher power

41% don't believe in God or a higher power

    7% didn't respond

So more scientists are atheist than Christian.

The problem with PEW is that their religion department seems to have gone off track in recent years - taking the figures above as an example you have a missing 8%!
