UK employment law question?
can an employee who has been given her notice then sabotaged the company newspaper releasing confidential information about other employees pay to a newspaper be held liable for the misuse of personal data? how?

She can be prosecuted for releasing info until the U.K. Data Protection Act.
She will be arrested and charged.

That's not an employment law matter, it's a criminal matter. If she did it deliberately, she could face prison.

It would almost certainly be a breach of confidentiality as it is again, almost certainly, a condition of your employment as specified in your contract of employment
Gross misconduct which could easily get you fired or affect compensation for loss of employment by redundancy etc
