Why is Fusion Power better then Fission?
- Andy CLv 72 months agoFavorite Answer
No waste if done right (cold fusion).
Fusion emits more energy, so more power and bigger bangs. The 1st fission bombs were equivalent to 10-15 megatons of TNT.
Fusion bombs are 50 megatons +.

Fusion produces much more energy.
Fusion fuel is hydrogen, that we can get from water.
Fusion waste product is helium, which is not dangerous nor radioactive.

Well, because we have a huge amount of hydrogen, hydrogen wouldn't need to be concentrated and enriched like uranium does, and hydrogen-fusion would create far less radioactive waste.
Unfortunately, the only practical application of fusion that we have is the Hydrogen-bomb...and it uses a fission-bomb to get started

Better efficiency , provided we can make it work on continuos basis !!!!

Is it? Who says so? We have not got close to a practical fusion plant. So what are the pitfalls? We don't know them ( yet). OK fusion does not need to produce dangerous wastes. The raw materials are relatively abundant.
But given that we already use energy to destroy our environment what would be the consequences of "unlimited energy"? Unlimited wastefulness. And the destruction of supplies of raw materials as well as the destruction of the world in which we live. Maybe we are LUCKY that we haven't achieved this yet.
