What does an Astrid in chemistry mean?

The "asterisk" (star) is sometimes used to write the formulas of hydrated salts when the writer can't use the proper "dot."
Copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate should be written as:
But is sometimes written as:
when the writer doesn't know how to insert the dot.

Do you maybe mean "asterisk"?
That is the symbol *.
I can't think of any meaning peculiar to chemistry. It is commonly used to mean multiplication in mathematics, and chemical calculations often need to use multiplication so that might be the connection.
But for a real answer you must tell about the context. Where did you see this "Astri..."?
