Why was Adm. Halsey so gullible and easily tricked by Yamamoto? He could have prevented Pearl Harbor.?

    Your knowledge of history appears to be seriously flawed.

    There were a number of actions that the US did, AND DID NOT, take prior to the Japanese attack that might have made a difference had the been done differently..... BUT..... Halsey was NOT responsible for any of them.

    Billy Mitchell came back from Japan in the 1920s and predicted Japan going to war with the USA, starting with a Sunday morning attack on Pearl Harbor. How come no one listened to him? How was it EVERY carrier was out to see when the attack happened? Maybe we knew it was going to happen and let it. If you discount the Arizona deaths, it was relatively an ineffective attack. Of the major ships hit, only three were unusable, the rest were raised, repaired and used later in the war. None of the repair facilities were hit, the fuel storage area was unhit. But it sure got the American public behind the war. Maybe that was the goal of the American leadership.

    halsey was a carrier commander when pearl harbor happened.

    The escape Goat for Pearl Harbor was Admiral Husband E. Kimmel he was demoted for it.
