The exact composition of your meal plan isn't that critical. You need proteins, fats and carbs but they can be slit up many different ways with good results. Athletes get at least half of their calories from carbs. It would be difficult to get that many carbs with out eating grains. Bodybuilders can not agree on what's best. Almost any nutritional split can work if its in the ball park with at least .36 grams protein per pound of body weight, at least 20% of calories from fats. And the rest from carbs to meet your calorie requirement.
