Is it illegal to use bad language towards someone else? And can police arrest you ?

For example telling someone to "**** off you *****"

It verbal and difficult to prove. People have said to me in the past, F*CK YOU, F*CK YOU, maybe even 3 times F*CK YOU. They were fine after. ;-)

It is not illegal to use bad language. Police can't arrest you for it only in particular circumstances. For example, in my state, shouting expletives out a car window can result in arrest, but not shouting them on the street.

State and word comes into play. NY and Ma have either passed or have legislation up for vote, that does ban certain words. Punishment is a fine but if you don't pay that fine, then you could possibly get arrested and such.

Sure. Showing some temper during an investigation will get you hauled off. Mainly so that things can calm down.
