Which one would give best support to use for a load-bearing beam?
#2 Prime Kiln Dried Southern Yellow Pine Lumber OR #2 Prime Ground Contact Pressure-Treated Lumber

I would use the kiln dried lumber. You will get less shrinkage or warping from dry lumber. Most pressure treated lumber has a higher moisture content and is not necessary unless it is used for a sill plate or an area that has a very high likelihood of a termite infestations.

i would use neither ..unless you are using an engineered beam...either a re-enforced concrete lintol or a steel beam is standard in uk ..for normal timber head to texas ..home of the cowboys

pressure treated is for outdoor or damp area use. strength is equal

if the beam will be outside exposed to the elements than use the pressure treated, if the beam will be indoors than use the other
