Fluent speakers of English, could you help me with my English?

I need to translate a text but I'm not sure it sounds natural for English speakers as I'm not a native speaker. Do I need to make any corrections? I would appreciate any answers.

The standards of ergonomic are constantly changing, just as our understanding as to what work environment is best for the performance and well-being of office workers.

In American English, usually "ergonomic" is an adjective, like an ergonomic design, an ergonomic keyboard. In speaking of this field of study in general we say "ergonomics" just like we say "physics" rather than physic, "the mechanics of the process" rather than mechanic. I can't tell you why, only what sounds natural what doesn't sound natural to me.
