Can I have an arranged overdraft if I'm already in an unarranged overdraft?

I'm currently banking with Yorkshire Bank. Yesterday, I went over onto my overdraft but I hadn't arranged that. From my unarranged overdraft, can I arrange an overdraft to hopefully reduce the overdraft fees a little?

I don't want to be billed for my phone use if it's not going to get me anywhere.I'm a student, this is my first time with everything to do with banking. I thought I was managing ok but this months bills were higher than I expected. I just need to get through until January.

Students generally get an automatic arranged overdraft of about £100.  Check that first.  Otherwise borrow from family to eliminate the unarranged overdraft before asking.  That is going to make your position much stronger.  Once you have the arranged overdraft, pay back family immediately.

In future, keep a saving cushion to prevent this from happening!

    Yes.  Ask the bank.

Go and talk to your bank today. The sooner the better.

Go to your local YB branch explain your situation  and ask them there.
