If cops raided a peaceful protest in the street, what would happen if a protestor tried to leave on their own terms?

Would that be leaving the scene of a crime (the crime being trespassing)? Resisting arrest?

Probably depends on what "their own terms" are. But the police roll up on these things and their first request is that people leave. So yeah, someone could just walk away instead of stirring the pot, and this is what the smart protestors do.

The first thing the cops would do is try to get people to leave on their own quietly.

If the police are going to a peaceful protest, they're not likely there to arrest anyone unless they do something stupid.

They would tend to either break it up, move it out of the way, or tell folks to disperse.

In such case they're not likely to be bothered if they leave since that's what the police are trying to get people to do.
