Lift "stuff" up carefully from cabinet or table or floor and place carefully on the top of the desk.

In your File explorer, find the file you want to move to the desktop. In order to do this you will have to know where the file is located. Once you find the file, click on it once then press ctrl + c on your keyboard to copy the file. Minimize your file explorer so you can see your desktop, then press ctrl + v to paste the item to the desktop.

The desktop is a screen/PC (An interface), which is used via the operating system/programs to display files like pictures, documents and music/films etc
Which are actually saved in the hard drive memory.
Files can be downloaded or transferred via portable memory sticks.

You need to be a bit more specific about what "stuff". Also what system Windows?, Mac?
