the  4th EARL of SANDWICH  gave up the ISLANDS  a name change due to HISTORY

today they are called the  HAWAIIAN islands  part of the USA and has SUBWAY  Restaurants

the  word  SANDWICH comes from old English SANDWIC meaning SAND VILLAGE or a SANDY PLACE   "WIC" is a loan word from LATIN  "VICUS " meaning Hamlet which also gives us the word VICINITY

There are over 100 Subway restaurants in the Sandwich Islands. However, it's now known as Hawaii.

The South Sandwich Islands don't have a large enough population.
