If you are using digital equipment to play them then CDs will probably be best.  High-end analog equipment, plus pristine vinyl can have better slew rates and skew symmetry, but such improvements are not very noticeable for a lot of types of music.  Wear and dust can be a problem too.  And custom equipment can cost a lot.  If you have the chance, listen to both and see which you prefer.

CDs are less easy to damage and they do not contain the annoying background noise that vinyl records have. No clicks and pops. It is pretty easy to make a perfect backup copy of a CD, not so easy to make a backup copy of the vinyl because vinyl deteriorates every time it is played

yknow, one big reason people had/had a penchant for old vinyls isn't that it has an inherantly better sound quality, but because by the time CDs were the main choice in the market record companies figured out that louder=more attention, and so many songs available on CD were poorly mastered and sounded much worse.

so long as the song is properly mastered, i prefer CDs. much less fussy, and will not get scratched up just from regular use! not that vinyls are bad, of course, the ritual and kind of-romanticism?- of records is something.

CDs are only as noisy as the source material, and the sound doesn't deteriorate with use, but the sampling process does introduce subtle distortion.  Vinyl records have a significantly greater frequency response but less dynamic range.

Which is better for you depends on your priorities.

From a listening point of view, CDs.

Some people like to collect records and enjoy owning and playing them though.
