    The only investment it is is an investment in entertainment or to dream.

    Lotteries are not a financial investment...not a sound one anyway.

    No. There are no current lottery games that can be considered an investment.

    There was a time a lottery game was designed in manner that players could gain a significant statistical advantage. Using the proper strategy buying tickets to such a game could be considered an investment. For details see

    If any state ever comes out with a similar game again in the future it would, once again, be possible to buy lottery tickets as an investment.
