It isn't the "British Commonwealth" and hasn't been for decades. It is the Commonwealth of Nations. Queen Elizabeth is the Head of the Commonwealth but it is not a hereditary title. When she dies, the Commonwealth nations will choose a new head and it will not necessarily be the new King.

16 nations in the Commonwealth have Queen Elizabeth as their Head of State. In Australia she is the Queen of Australia. The fact that she is also Queen of New Zealand, Canada, Jamaica, the United Kingdom etc is irrelevant. The rest of the Commonwealth nations are either republics or monarchies with their own Kings and Queens.

Thank-you, Sir Prince, I knew he had taken on the duties from the Queen but was unaware he had already been chosen to succeed her. It is still, however, not a hereditary title and William, in his turn, will need to be elected.

It's he same reason republicans suck up to trump like a pack of crooked sycophants some people just love being strict parents and following authoritative political leadership.

People turned out in their dozens to see D'Orange Chump's inauguration! I am NOT inferring that The Queen is a similar malignant force.

  • Beats me - it's like asking why Scots voted to stay under English rule.

Most Commonwealth countries are republics, and don't recognize the Crown at all.ย  The 16 "Commonwealth Realms" all have their own Crowns, who just happens to be the same person as the British one.

There is generally admiration for the Crown in whatever form though.ย  That is one of the cool things about living in a monarchy!

It's their national pride, to which they are entitled. Everyone should take pride in his or her country.

Because they worship them.ย  They think the royals were appointed to their position by God.
