I think freedom of reason is one important role, but I think for me the most important is freedom of thought and the ability to speak against the government/leaders of the country because democracy is very important to me and when opinion starts being suppressed, it shows the end of democracy and the beginning of a fascist regime or dictatorship. So I guess in a way I also recognise the threat of government tyranny.

But why would they oppose the tyrants if not for a reason they’ve shared between themselves via free speech?
