Is it legal or illegal to grow marijuana in my house?

I don't smoke or use marijuana, but I'm confused on the laws in Massachusetts.

Update:

I've seen a lot of people growing marijuana lately. They grow it in there house/apartment.

In the USA it remains a federal crime to possess any amount of any part of a Cannabis plant for any reason, subject to limited licenses for medical research. The fact that your state doesn't enforce federal laws isn't relevant.

If you are of legal age and do not sell or process the plant for "use" it is "legal". I think you can harvest it for "rope" but not for other purposes in excess of what you might use yourself.

In my country you can grow up to 4 marijuana plants for personal use. You live in the USA. The USA is a bit behind the times.

Marijuana STINKS like hell and is for complete LOSERS. I hope it never becomes legal here under federal law.
