Qualitative is more broad and general findings or observations.

Quantitative has to do with numbers, percentages, physical measurements and math

Soft sciences like philosophy are generally qualitative

Hard sciences like physics and statistics are generally quantitative.

Almost any data having to do with numbers or quantity is quantitative.

Qualitative means what it is: Is the color red, white or blue?

Quantitative means how many: There are 3 red cars, 5 white cars and 2 blue cars.

Qualitative data is stuff that cannot be counted; you cannot attach a numerical value to.   An example would be a description of the relationship between you and your pet dog.

Quantitative data can be numbered.  Like how many dogs you own.
