    physical network layer refers to the physical "media" used to carry the network signals from point A to point B.

    FYI - Cat 5 does NOT mean Ethernet!  Whoever wrote the question isn't savvy to networking technology/history.  Ethernet is a name, it should always be capitalized.  Ethernet is not exclusive to Cat5 or twisted pair wire.
