why do we use the term doeppelganger instead of "doublewalker"?

"doublewalker" or "double walker" sounds way cooler, and it actually sounds like what it is..

Doeppelganger or Dopplergangbanger doesn't sound like anything and it's impossible to spell.

    Because we borrowed the word from the German language.  The German doppelgänger, literally "double-goer," has a ghostly sense.

    Double-goer sounds infinitely cooler than what you proposed.

    1 because it's not about walking

    2 because there is no English equivalent.

    it's a calque from German "Doppelgänger" and Dutch "dubbelganger"

    Oh, look, Lulabelle! Another dumba** American who can't handle the fact that languages other than English exist.

    doppelganger = dope + double + gang + 69ers

    this is the reason why doppelganger is cooler than doublewalker boy.

    I kinda like "doublewalker." But "doeppelganger" is German for "double-goer" and America and the english language have German roots.

    The origins of the word is German.  And who has ever used the term “doppelgangbanger”?  I have never heard of it.

    • I get that, but why not use an English equivalent?  This is not Germany
