Hey pal! Have you heard of this cool website? It’s called Encyclopedia Damatixa, and based on your activity on this site, I figured it was a good site for one special guy like you. Just type encyclopediadramatica.se and you’re good to go!

No. 8 millimeter film is ,er, 8 millimeters in width, 16 millimeter film is 16 millimeters, or twice as wide. It wont fit the sprockets, the reels, have the same focus distance from the light or lens, nor are the tensioning mechanisms remotely designed for film twice as wide. You are essentially asking if R12 tires will fit  R16 rims.

The same way that you can play a Beta tape in a VHS machine.
