I met a guy a few days ago, he's being really friendly but I think he's a Christian who just wants me to join his cult; how can I tell?

Just let him know your not interested in Christianity and if this 'is' the case he won't be so friendly anymore.

Repent and accept Jesus, receive the Holy Spirit and be saved, dedicate your new life to Christ then see if he stops being friendly. If he does, then he wasn't a real Christian so you won't have to worry anymore. 

Also, on the upside, you can avoid eternal divine wrath at the same time.

Besides, they don't invite people to enter the church if they don't evangelize them first! So, after this, if the person is interested, he freely enters the church!
