What was this red paste that came with Shrimp tom yum noodles?

I have some instant ramen noodles in the flavor "Shrimp Tom Yum". I noticed they have come with a small sache of dark brownish red paste. The paste is extremely thick and not runny at all. When I put it in the noodles it gave them a more fresh taste.
