If you are using miso paste for the flavor, then no. Miso paste has a unique set of flavors. BTW: avoid fish sauce. Several medical research have shown a link between consumption of fish sauce and cancer (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC46888...

It depends on exactly what the miso paste is "doing" in the recipe.
Soy sauce or fish sauce add a similar salty and savory flavor. If you're making a soup, you might be able to get away with substituting a vegetable stock.
