(a) What is the magnitude of the maximum torque the crane can withstand if the maximum load the crane can handle is 460 N?

(b) What is the maximum load for this crane at an angle of 35° with the horizontal?

    max torque is when the angle between force and arm is 90º

    therefore τ = 460 N x 14 m = 6440 Nm

    force perpendicular to the arm is Wcos35 = 460

    W = 561 N
