Japan wants to dump a lot of radioactive water into the ocean. What’s their alternative(s)?

It has been deemed they’re taking a shortcut to lighten the economic baggage by dumping their radioactive water into the ocean. What would be their alternative if not this?

Considering their main diet is fish, that would not be the wisest solution.

Would be better to pump it down defunct oilfields. At least then it will be mostly contained in rock.

pump it into the remaining cooling ponds and evaporate off 99.99% of it. Any radioactive materials in the water would not evaporate.

First time I heard of "radioactive water". It was a joke 60 years ago when I started working in a science lab. Non-existent.

    Peace.
