If the Republicans ditch Trump and support Pence, could he win them more elections?

Could Pence have won Kentucky and Louisiana for the GOP if he had been President?

These are "Dixiecrat" states. Meaning it was unusual for a Republican to win the Governors race. The fact one did in the past shows more about how the DNC was doing then what the GOP is doing. They were lost because of Obama and his policies. I live in another Dixiecrat state and the Republican won here only because the Democratic candidate endorsed Obama. That was the way it was last Governors race in many states. The Governors seen as being close to Obama lost. It was not a desire for a Republican, it was a rejection of Obama. Even the endorsement of Hillary or by Hillary cost the candidate (and would) a lot of votes in these "swing states".

Rispone was trailing behind the incumbent by 22 points before Trump lent his support. He was trailing by less than 3% after Trump's endorsement. That was an incredible move up, just not quite enough to beat the incumbent advantage.

Trump still cost them.  Pence would be better.

If Trump is ditched, Romney might jump in and would have the best chance.

I didn't say he'd beat democrats, just  that he would have the best chance.
