    Because they last shared an ancestor more recently. Genetic differences usually take time to slowly accumulate. Morphlogical differences, however, can accumulate more rapidly. Take a look at the dog, the many breeds took only thousands of years to take shape to look like they do, but if you examine their DNA, the differences between different breeds are small.
