If Trump threatened witnesses but they ignore his threats, is it still witness tamperaing?

I know Jim Jordan and Devin Nunes would say no.

    It is still witness tampering.

By suing Twitter and parody account @DevinCow, Nunes makes himself a laughingstock

Did you hear the one about Devin Nunes being so angry at a make-believe cow that he’s suing Twitter for $250 million?

    Now that’s a lot of mooooo-la.

Instead, I’d rather take stock of Nunes’ udder (apologies) hypocrisy.

House Republicans have a history of twisting facts to create a circus during congressional hearings; it’s a feature, not a bug for them.

The Benghazi hearings were a new low for House Republicans, who turned a national tragedy into a political circus focused on bringing down a Democratic presidential candidate. Those hearings were never about what happened in Libya, and how to prevent future tragedies—as Kevin McCarthy publicly bragged at the time. They were about smearing Hillary Clinton so that she would lose in 2016. And it worked.

The same people who drove the Benghazi hoax are now running Trump’s impeachment defense: Mike Pompeo, Kevin McCarthy, Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows, Devin Nunes, Lindsey Graham, and Mick Mulvaney.

Of course, it is still witness tampering-- a felony. It is a violation of the law. A witness has protections. Trump's associate, Roger Stone was just convicted of witness tampering.

Trump doesn't hire the best people, but people with dark secrets. Nunes and Jordan have the IQ of a chicken and are both facing lawsuits. Jordan is facing numerous lawsuits by the victims of molestation. He covered up for a pedophile so he desperately needs Trump's protection and possibly a pardon.  Americans want their protections against organized crime so they can ignore the threats, tell the truth on the witness stand without worrying about their family being harmed. Since Trump took office he has been violating the rule of law, threatening people with destroying their careers and reputation.  He verbally abuses them at his rallies, actually putting their lives and members of congress lives in danger.  This is what communist dictators do.  Trump and his gang are threating members of congress and the FBI. I just don't see how violating the law over and over again will be allowed to continue by these thugs. Does someone have to die before Trump is stopped?

Calling out someone as incompetent IS NOT threatening them.

If you rob a bank,  but are stopped at the door by the guard and caught.......

are you no longer guilty of robbing the bank, since you didn't get away?

Yes, it is.  Under federal law, attempts to intimidate a witness are punishable crimes.

How can Trump threaten a witness, when he doesn't even know she is listening? IF there was any threatening involved, Schiff is complicit with it, because HE is the one who stopped proceedings to tell her what Trump was saying bout her!

You don't think she would have heard about Trump's tweet?  In any case, she might be a witness at his trial.  He had the nerve to tweet about her while she was testifying in front of Congress.  Who knows what else he is signaling that he might have the nerve to do. It was outrageous.

  • Yes, a bit like if I shot you but missed.

    Still tried.

Just like if someone stole something from you, but you didn't care about that object anyhow so you brushed it off, is it still theft?
