Info on anemia caused by excess iron? I know it's usually automatically associated with low iron, especially in women, but some research?

Has found that too much iron is causing anemia. I had been diagnosed w recurring anemia since early adolescence, but the past few yrs with diet changes, and now no longer eating food containing added iron (industrial metal filings mixed with sulfuric acid) , I have not had any anemia on bloodtests. I just eat the iron naturally-occurring in food. Anyone have more info about anemia caused by too much iron? Also I used to be prescribed high doses of iron pills and would still have the issues.
