Can Coffee-Bean be a life-time career?

I'm probably going to live for

another 60 years (retire in 50).

I think Coffee-Bean is a kick-***

job. I love serving people in a fun

environment; too bad, it pays

peanuts. My counselor said I can

rent a room in some garage for

$500/month and still lead a good

life. There are also social-programs

where I may only have to pay $100

for health-insurance.

Advice Please.

Yes. There are people who started at McDs when they were 16, at 40 they owned a couple franchises. It does happen if you focus.

If you have no intentions of moving up (becoming a manager, maybe having your own franchise),  It's not what I would consider a viable career path. You won't be able to save much (if anything) for unexpected expenses or retirement.

In my book that's one step above homeless. And not what I would consider "a good life". But different people have different definitions of what they believe constitutes a good life.

  • You are very young and right now this seems like a good idea. Try to think if you will still like this is 20 -30-50 years. Will places like this still exist?  Do this for now, but plan for your future long term. Give yourself options.

If you are content making and living with the sacrifices required to be an underachiever by choice then you are free to do just that .
