Find the average rate of change between the points f(370) and f(-20) given that f(x)=5x^7+e^.5x+x^3

Average rate of change between two points is the same as saying, "Slope between 2 points." The idea is to reinforce what the slope between 2 points is measuring.

(f(370) - f(-20)) / (370 - (-20)) =>

(5 * (370^7 - (-20)^7) + (e^(0.5 * 370) - e^(0.5 * (-20))) + (370^3 - (-20)^3))) / 390

It's going to look like hell, because e^(185) is essentially 10^80, and the other values pale in comparison to it. The answer is pretty close to 5 * 10^77

Evaluate f(370). What do you get?

Ditto for f(-20).

Then evaluate (f(370) - f(-20))/(370 - -20).
