If broil element goes on during bake cycle does unit require service?

    not necessarily.

    in some ovens, both the broil and bottom heating elements come on during preheating and might also come on to bring the temp back up.

    Call a repair man from the same company as the stove was made by. they can tell you all about it.

    No both elements go on/off periodically to keep the heat consistent throughout the baking cycle.
