How to tactfully ask for asthma medicine refills?

The front desk people at my doctor’s office are a bit unaccommodating compared to past experiences elsewhere.  I’m not sure if they are pressured to be that way by the doctors or if it’s just them. Anyway it’s pretty typical to get a couple months’ supply of asthma medicine at a time, refills that is.  Typical anywhere but this office it seems.  How can I politely assert my need for a refill without unnecessary doctor visit and spending my $$ for no reason?

If my prescription is about to expire I call my doctor and ask them to call  a refill  in to my pharmacy. Never had a problem.

IDK where you are, but SOME pharmacies will contact your doctor for you if you ask for a refill.
