Is it a waste of time for the Senate to continue the impeachment inquiry?

No. He may not be impeached, and if he is, he may not end up being removed from office, but it's not at all unreasonable to question the reliability of the president, that is part of the job description of the congress , it's a part of their constitutional charge

No, like the Mueller report it already paid for itself in recovered tax fraud.

No. It is important for both the questions and the answers to be recorded for history.

The Senate is not doing an impeachment inquiry. The House of Representatives is doing the inquiry in public hearings and the Republicans have nothing to excuse Trump's actions so all they do is attack procedures. The US Senate is highly unlikely to convict Trump and throw him out of office, but the American people will vote in November 2020 for President, the entire House of Representatives, and 23 Republican held US Senate seats and 12 Democrat held US Senate seats.

Mitch McConnell thinks so. His mind was made up 50 years ago.

The impeachment inquiry is being conducted by the House of Representatives, not the Senate.  If the House decides to impeach the president, the Senate will hold a trial of whether or not to remove him from office by force.  But that trial won't happen until the House is finished with its inquiry, and has held a full floor vote on impeachment.

They should first vote to have a secret ballot on the issue.

That way they can actually vote on the issue and not on the political blow back.

Only three Republican senators have to support that bill for it to be enacted.

Off the top of my head I can think of at least two who would support it.

If that goes through, Donny is gone.

    • No, when you vote it's a secret ballot, is that a problem for you?
Being able to vote with your conscious without repercussions is the essence of democracy.

@blue ninja - you should educate yourself before you speak.  The Senate is the chamber that decides whether to have a trial, not the house.   .....like it or not

Well you're going to have to ask Mitch McConnell about that one, because according to him you're wrong.

If the House impeaches they supposedly have to have a trial, whether they like it or not.

McConnell said himself in September that he'd have "no choice" but to take it up and can't ignore it if the House votes to impeach.
