A lot. Rudy claims to be so broke that he can't pay alimony to his 3rd wife. It looks like he's pulling a Manafort. SOMEBODY is paying him big money. Follow the money.

Giuliani seems to be doing no favors for the president, someone should have picked a better advocate for Trump. Bad mistake in that choice.

Rudy does PR work.
Rudy is under criminal investigation by the Southern District of New York, regarding his business relationship with Ukraine associates Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, who were arrested and charged with conspiracy and who allegedly played a valuable role in Giuliani’s attempt to dig up dirt on Joe Biden, Trump’s personal lawyer is said to be under investigation by the Department of Justice’s criminal division (Parnas and Fruman have pleaded not guilty). That makes things awkward not only for Giuliani, in that he’d presumably like to stay out of prison, but also for numerous members of the government with whom he worked on his Ukraine scheme, as well as, of course, for the president. “He appears to be a subject, if not a target, of an active investigation. So to have him be a part of the legal team would be troublesome, to say the least,” Greg Brower, who worked as the FBI’s top liaison to Congress until 2018, told Politico. “At best it’s a messy situation and more likely it’s just completely dysfunctional.”

People like Trump have more than one private lawyer.
I mean really, can one person keep up?

Trump hires lawyers to be the fall guy so they go to prison and not him for Trump's crimes. He already has two in prison
He does not pay Rudy. This is not some crackpot theory. It’s what Rudy says. He is working pro bono.
