What Does it Mean When a College Class is on Hold when Registering?

I’m registering for my 2nd semester tomorrow and noticed some of the time slots for classes are marked “HO” (on hold). Does this just mean they’ll be available to join at a later time or are special requirements necessary to join them?

They might be full, and you might just need to wait for space to open up? Ask your advisor.

That mean's that all the seats in that class and section of that class are filled, but there probably is a waiting list you can be put on as people change or adjust their schedules or cancel enrollment or decide to drop  out. If there is more than one section of that class offered at a different time. Including after 5 pm, there may be open seats in those sections of that class, or the class may be offered at s different campus.

This sounds like they are not sure whether those classes can take more students right now, so you can't be guaranteed a place.
