Sure. He'd need a pressurized habitat, along with power, food, and water... I doubt he'd want to live there forever, but if he had been assigned to a Mars base for 9 to 12 months, I think he'd be just fine.

Provided that air ,water and food would be served three meals per day on Mars then, but how long does it take for a day on Mars , when compare to the earth.

Just Dig

It would provide cover from the Sun's Radiation, Dust Storms, and any occasional Meteorite

And the easiest way to seal in any Artificial Atmosphere

Even easier, the Lava Tubes around the Giant Volcanoes that dot the Martian Surface

Just seal up the Entrance

 No need to fear the Bogey Man with Surface Cameras
