The Crimson Tide certainly wiped out the Florida gators 54 to 16.  I visited the gator campus a few months ago to watch my nephew get his doctorate.  There were still lots of fish and marine life when I was in Florida (campus is in the middle of the state but we traveled all over it.  Red tides are pretty typical in that part of the world.  We get them sometimes in So California too.
