    Just looking at -2 and -24 you can tell that only one of the integers is negative

    and the only 2 integers that make 2 and 24 are 6 and 4

    6 x 4 = 24 and 6 - 4 = 2

    So, because it's -2 it must be 4 + (- 6)

    So, the numbers are -6 and 4

    -6 + 4 = -2

    -6 * 4 = -24

  • a + b = -2

    a * b = -24

    a = -2 - b

    (-2 - b) * b = -24

    -(2 + b) * b = -24

    b * (b + 2) = 24

    b^2 + 2b = 24

    b^2 + 2b + 1 = 24 + 1

    (b + 1)^2 = 25

    b + 1 = -5 , 5

    b = -6 , 4

    -6 and 4

    That would be 4 and -6.

    4+(-6)=-2

    4x(-6)=-24

    How I figured this out?  To get -24, you need to multiple by 3 and 8 or 4 and 6, with one of those being a negative number.

    No combo of 3 and 8 will give you a sum of -2, so it has to be 4 and 6.  And to get a -2 sum, the larger number has to be -6.
