A brick is suspended above the ground on an planet at a height of 6.5 m. It has a mass of 4.5 kg. If the gravitational potential energy is measured to be 350 J, what is the acceleration due to gravity experienced on this planet?

    350 = 6.5*4.5*g

    g = 350 / (6.5*4.5) = 12.0 m/sec^2

    How could you possibly "measure" gravitational potential energy?  Normally we measure the force, then multiply by distance to get the work done.  but if P = F * d = m*a*d

    -> a = P / ( m*d) = 350/(6.5 * 4.5) m/s^2
