I just got my bellybutton pierced and I’m a competitive gymnast...?

Why does it hurt when I do bridges, walkovers and handsprings?

Will it stop hurting eventually?

Update:

It’s not super bad pain, it just kinda stings and I feel like it pulls.

It hurts because you are stretching the skin across the jewelry of the piercing.

Ideally you should sit out from doing anything for the first 3 months to let it start healing without excess irritation.

It will stop hurting, but we have no idea when that will happen.  If you stop and let it heal for a few months it won't hurt as bad when you start doing gymnastics like this again.

Cover the piercing area with a taped on gauze pad, like a bandage on a wound. This will protect the area from being irritated by your clothing as you move.

Actually, it's a good idea to keep it covered like that, or at least with a band-aid, pretty much all the time excepting when you're going "bare belly" like at the beach or with low waisted pants and a short top.
