honestly, while i've never used either, i'm sure they are comparable. there are lots of companies that make decent digital interface devices other than focusrite. i've used ones made by roland, behrenger, tascam and presonus and they've all gotten the job done.

I can't see how it could be.

The Focusrite interfaces can do 24 bit resolution at up to 192KHz sample rate and incredibly low distortion; even the headphone out section has better specs than some audiophile headphone DACs costing ludicrous amounts.

The Yamaha main specs page do not even include bit depth or sample rate.

The FAQ section only ever mentions 44.1KHz

Generally, when places brag about quantity (how much it can do etc.) but do not mention quality, it's because the quality is nothing they could brag about.

    I doubt it.

A schitty sounding instrument is going to sound schitty whether its being fed through an 800$ Apollo or a 140$ Focusrite.

Only differences is the Apollo may have some cabinet DAWs programmed into it.
