How to tell if your printer or copier has a hard drive?

    Go to the manufacturer's website and look up the specs for that model.

    No normal printer etc. has a hard drive.

    The only ones that may, just possibly, are the filing-cabinet sized industrial grade ones, intended to be shared by hundreds of users & do copying etc. at the same time.

    You give the model number of that printer to the customer support people of the maker, and they will tell you.

    Source(s): Most of my multi-function printers that can do stand alone copying have RAM, not a hard drive. The ones that cannot do stand alone copying use the computer's memory device (RAM or HDD).

    they don't. period. memory in these things is reloaded each time they are turned on

    if it cost over $1000 new, it has a hard drive. long as it's not over a decade old.
