If the hacker is good at what he does you won't know you've been hacked. Use strong passwords on everything, set your firewall up correctly, keep everything up to date especially any security patches. keep the firmware up to date on your router.

Why do you think someone is trying to hack you? Did you download something you shouldn't have or visit a site that was sketchy? You can always run a free virus scanner along with Malwarebytes.
